Just Like the Civil War

War today is not that different than war in the past. The current situation in Iraq reminds me of the Civil War. Just like the Civil War, the Democrats are trying to get the Republican President out of office. Just like the Civil War, the politicians are back-stabbing and trying to sway public opinion in their own direction. Just like the Civil War, there is an outcry from the 'intellectual elite' that there is no reason for war, it's a war 'created' by the President. Just like the Civil War, everyone is in an uproar and screeching at the top of their lungs that it's the other man's fault. Just like the Civil War, all of Washington D. C. is in a frenzy trying to stop the tidal wave heading in their direction. Just like the Civil War, the survival of the Union is issue while most are trying to convince themselves and others that it's about other things that we don't have to fight about. Just like the Civil War, everything is at stake. Just like the Civil War, there are two sides that are clammering and chomping at the bit to have at each other. Just like the Civil War, there is nothing, nothing, anyone can do to stop it.

Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can, and strike him as hard as you can. And keep moving on!
~ Ulysses S. Grant's philosophy of war
